Photostories

This is a great tool that allows you to create and tell a story through pictures. You can narrate it, insert music and transitions too!

Using Internet Resources

For part of my Master's Program through Peru State College, I get to take a Using Internet Resourcs course.  I have learned about so many technology tools to incorporate in the classroom including Skype and Blogging.  Skype is a great communication tool that I have quickly became familiar with.  It is easy to use for instant messaging (I prefer), or face-to-face conversations (students prefer).  I have been able to communicate ideas with classmates and the instructor.  My students and I had a classmate move to Germany last month and were able to Skype with her and learn about life and school in Germany!  We are also learning about Habitats in Science and plan to Skype with a professional at the zoo:)

Blogging is another great form of communication through the use of technology.  I have been able to read and learn from other teacher blogs!  I don't think blogs can replace a weekly email newsletter to parents, but it can provide great conversations, and information and resources for parents and students.  I would like to create a class blog that allows my 2nd grade students to contribute a post about a specific topic.  This can be especially beneficial to those students that are a little more quiety to share in class:)

I'm eager to learn so much more and incorporate more intenet resources in my classroom!  I am also looking forward to sharing some of the technology resources and ideas at our staff meeting in November!

Student Blogging

Student blogging is a great tool to engage and interest today's students and enhance the 21st Century Skills through collaboration and incorporation of technology.  Student blogging will take time to introduce and set up, but will give students the opportunity to to collaborate and learn from each other!  Student blogs is a good formative assessment to check for understanding of any concept or subject area.  The 21st century skills provide the opportunity to prepare every student for success in work and life.
